14. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA) and Other Jurisdictions

This section supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy and applies solely to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

Right to Know. You have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes for collecting it, the categories of third parties with whom we share it, and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected. For categories of personal information collected, sources, purposes, and recipients, see Sections 1–4 of this Policy.

Right to Delete. You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions (for example, to complete a transaction, detect fraud, or comply with a legal obligation). Account deletion is available in-app via My Account → Delete Account, or by emailing privacy@heywhats.com.

Right to Correct. You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.

Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing. HeyWhatsTheDeal does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide a clear "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link.

Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information. To the extent we collect sensitive personal information (e.g., precise geolocation when authorized for deal discovery), we use it only for the purpose of providing the requested service and disclosed product features, and not for any purpose that would trigger the CPRA's "right to limit." Disable location services at any time through your device settings.

Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not deny goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different level or quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.

Authorized Agents. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will require written permission from you and verification of the agent's identity before processing the request.

How to Submit a Request. Submit verifiable consumer requests by emailing privacy@heywhats.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will respond within the statutorily required timeframes (generally 45 days, with the possibility of one 45-day extension if reasonably necessary). We may need to verify your identity before responding, which may include asking for information sufficient to match against records we already maintain.

Retention. We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy and to comply with applicable law (e.g., tax, accounting, and transactional records). Engagement and interaction data tied to a deleted account is anonymized or removed in accordance with our deletion procedures.

California "Shine the Light." California residents may request, once per calendar year, information about personal information shared with third parties for those third parties' direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. Include "Shine the Light Request" in correspondence to privacy@heywhats.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California Minors. Users under 18 may request removal of publicly posted content by emailing privacy@heywhats.com with a detailed description of the content. Removal is not guaranteed in all cases.

Canada. Residents may request access to collected personal information and information about vendor transfers. Contact privacy@heywhats.com.
